In Arizona, Route 66 runs from the state border with New Mexico to the state border with California. The stretch of the route in Arizona is known for its diverse landscapes and historic landmarks. In 1914, the road was designated “National Old Trails Highway” but in 1926 was re-designated as U.S. Route 66. In Arizona remains the longest stretch of the original Route 66.
The Route 66 also offers many opportunities to explore the culture of the native American tribes, and visitors can stop at the Navajo Nation, the largest Native American reservation in the United States, and the Hopi Reservation, one of the oldest continuously inhabited communities in North America.
1. Wigwam Motel

Lewis, features 15 concrete and steel wigwams arranged in a square around the main office, with two smaller wigwams flanking it. The motel even used to have a gas station! Today, Wigwam Village is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and has become a must-see attraction for Route 66 travelers. 2. Standin’ on The Corner Foundation

Standin’ on the Corner Park is a notable landmark located in Arizona on Route 66, and it has a rich history dating back to 1999.
